Shipley Glen Tramway – Christmas Special 2022

Due to the lack of available volunteers, we were unable to open on Sunday 5th and Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.
This was a great disappointment but it highlights the problem of needing more volunteers.

Opening times & Fares

We are open from 12 noon to 4 pm every Sunday until Easter.
Fares for 2024
Adult return: £2.50 (day rover) single: £1.50
Junior (6 to 15yrs) return: £1.00 (day rover) single 50p
Please note that payment is by card.
Family passes £25.00 for 12 months from the date of purchase.
We cannot give change, so please bear this in mind if you really want to use cash. Tender the exact amount.
We regret we cannot offer concessions or discounts.

Tram rides and Special Events

Our trams run throughout our opening times. Additionally during the holidays we run special events such as Santa's Specials
Normal rides do not need to be booked in advance - just arrive, buy a ticket and enjoy the ride!
Special events can be booked in advance and this may done using the 'Book Here!' button or using the calendar on the right. These appear as appropriate and as available

What to see and do here

Obviously, a ride on the tram is a 'must do'!
Your journey starts at either the upper station (Prod Lane) or the lower station (Roberts Park end. The upper station is where there is an 'olde-world shoppe' selling sweets and confectionary items.
The ride travels through the beautifully scenic woods down the glen. The bottom is where the information Centre is. Here you can see some of the history of the tramway.
You are then just across the road from Roberts Park (Saltaire) with pleasant walks through the gardens to the River Aire and various picnic areas.
Going further, and over the Leeds-Liverpool Canal is the world renowned Salts Mill with shops, cafes and more - all well worth a visit!
Parking is available at Titus school during weekends and holidays.

Please understand we are a charity and our volunteers are totally unpaid - please treat them and other visitors with respect and kindness.
We welcome all our visitors, children and pets (including dogs). We do ask that all act responsibly and with courtesy to all.
Our volunteers have the responsibility and authority to request good behaviour and in some cases will suspend operations and cancel tickets to ensure all have an enjoyable experience.

Please note that we can no longer transport bikes apart from children's cycles. Bikes have been causing damage to the trams so we have to call a halt to carrying them. Sorry!
